barcelona.

spain is one of my top favorite countries. i love the lifestyle and the food. here are a few snippets of our recent trip there.

we stayed in our friend’s apartment which is so BEAUTIFUL and so centrally located. it was very relaxing and i felt like we actually lived there. YOU can rent their apartment right here.

we took a paella cooking class ! so fun and delicious. paella is one of my favorite things to eat. we also learned how to make a mean SANGRIA !

i can not go to a new place without noticing the LAUNDRY !

i’m also always aware of the graffiti. i’d have to say that barcelona has some of the best graffiti i have ever seen.

in 2005 i biked through northern spain, what a beautiful part of the world. spain is definitely one of my top 3 favorite countries. this was lunch at a very charming restaurant called CAN QUEL, which we just happened to stumble upon. this is my favorite type of meal. so simple yet so delicious.

spain is my favorite country. i love the richness of the people, the culture, the food, the landscape, the colours, . . . i am 1/4 spanish and every time i visit spain, i feel such a deep connection with the land. almost like i belong there. i hope to someday live in spain, or at least have a house there that i could visit frequently. very frequently.

friday field trip (from the sketchbook).

two of my great passions in life are traveling and sketching, which equals many many travel sketchbooks. it all started in spain in 1993.  while traveling on a train, my camera was stolen out of my backpack. i began to sketch in my journal just so i could capture certain things that i wanted to remember. my journal eventually turned into a sketchbook.  all of my sketches are done really quickly, literally in seconds, and i actually find that my best sketches are done in a moving vehicle like a car or even while riding a bike.
every friday i am going to post a page from one of my travel sketchbooks. that way,  even if i can’t go on a weekend journey physically, i can mentally.
