today was my first day of calligraphy class. though i’ve done “regular” calligraphy before, now i’m learning how to do the beautiful fancier calligraphy with a teeny tiny pointed nib. it is incredibly enjoyable to spend a few hours simply writing the alphabet over and over and over. it’s like i’m in first grade again . . . but so much wiser (and wearing nicer shoes).

sometimes during the holiday madness, i am moving so fast that i literally forget to stop and eat or even drink. that is why i sometimes need a REMINDER staring me in the face to slow down and pause for a few minutes . . . even have a nice cup of tea.

i just got the keys to my new work|shop ! it is a very rustic space with a lot of possibility. and though i won’t be fully moved in until january 2013, i will be having a HUGE SALE during berkeley open studios on december 8th + 9th. i will have a lot of new work and a lot of OLD work that will be marked down up to 75% off.

on cloud nine.
i love when i see something that literally takes my breath away. that moment when you feel like your heart actually skips a beat. most of these moments, for me, come from seeing something out in nature that is so extraordinarily beautiful and unexpected that it catches you off guard. i had one of those moments this morning when i went out on our bedroom balcony to this view. the blast of energy that went coursing through my veins will get me through this long day with ease and remind me to look UP every now and then.
