i can’t believe wilma turned EIGHT today. it seems like just yesterday when i was picking her out of the litter of 9 baby jack russells. i was hoping for a brown + white rough coat puppy (like the frasier dog) . . . but when i saw this black + white smooth haired loner sitting off to the side by herself, while her siblings were in a pile playing with each other, i knew she was the one for me. it was the best decision i ever made. another testimony of how what you THINK you want is not always what you REALLY want or need. one of the many life lessons that she has taught me.
happy birthday sweet sweet girl.
these are some of the vessels i just made in france. i am crazy in love with this black clay that i can only get there. it has the perfect amount of grog in it and is such a joy to hand build with. i’d go back to france JUST for this clay . . . i love it that much.
yes, i am back in california after the MOST inspiring six weeks in the south of france EVER. i met SO many amazing artists, i saw SO much inspiring ART, i ate TRUCKLOADS of the most delicious food, i swam EVERY DAY in my favorite body of water (the mediterranean sea), i soaked in all the Côte d’Azur a girl could possible absorb. in one word, my journey was
“magical.”
but it does feel good to be back in my own atelier and in my own life . . .
and i will ALWAYS go back to the south of france.
always.
this summer has been much about the fig. these are a few of the figs i just made in france.
and this was my new food obsession . . . “fresh figs, a strong bleu cheese, and a drizzle of honey.” i ate this concoction many times a week . . . beautiful and oh so satisfying.
i LOVE these “hold the shutters open” thingys that i see all over france. the little person flips up and down. they are functional and so SO beautiful. (i later discovered they are called “shutter dogs.”)
