i’m starting to work on my next book (chronicle books) which will be a sketchbook from my sketchbooks of my trips to france ! i’m sorting through 100’s of sketches to see which ones will make the cut. a very daunting process but i’m so excited about this book ! it’s a dream come true.
this morning i spent painting and drawing with pure INDIGO chunks that i brought back from morocco . . .
then later that day i went to one of my favorite stores, the GARDENER, and saw THIS BOOK!

went on a quick trip to venice beach on the weekend. the terrain below was beautiful and inspiring. i love california.
and i sometimes love my short legs . . . LOOK at all my leg room !

these flowers always reminded me a fried egg and was HAPPY to learn that they are called MATILIJA POPPIES (also known as the “fried egg” flower). they are so elegant yet so bold.

i just went to morocco for the first time and was completely blown away. the COLORS. the BEAUTY. the FOOD. this photo was taken on a train from fez to marrakech. it was unbelievably beautiful.
this is at the tannery in fez. giant vats of natural dyes for leather. the smell is so incredibly FOUL that they give you fresh mint leaves to hold up to your nose.
colors in the souk. the spices and dried goods. AMAZING.
the architecture, the tiles, the woodwork. absolutely unbelievable.
and of course, the moroccan LAUNDRY !
i can NOT wait to go back to morocco. it was life changing.
