i started five different sketchbooks here in vermont.
1. the book of wilma.
2. sketching/writing with my left hand.
3. an everything sketchbook.
4. writing with something i found in nature.
5. flowers + plant life.
i’m going to be one busy girl.
a fresh start to another beautiful day in vermont.
and so happy that my parents-in-laws collect my work.
i’m testing out some vermont brown clay and am loving working with it.

i’m working on FIVE sketchbooks here in vermont. one of them is writing one of my favorite quotes with something that i have found in nature, and then doing a watercolor sketch of said object. this is bringing me such joy. you can see more of the entries here.

the beaches in cape cod are spectacular.
you can’t go to cape cod and not eat LOBSTER rolls !

i’m fascinated with skate egg cases.
they were all over the beaches and i had to take four of them for inspiration.

our annual month in new england has begun !
here we are in boston with my usual joke about wilma being a BOSTON terrier.
she doesn’t think it’s that funny . . . but I do !
sometimes in my studio when the stars are aligned, there is a moment when the light is perfect, there is a sense of calm, the silence is profound, and i feel overwhelmed with gratitude. i love my studio.
i’m not exactly sure why, but stacks of wonky plates make me really happy.
it could be that it shows the true handmade-ness of the plates, or the beauty in negative space, or the individual personality of each plate, whatever the reason, it never ceases to spark a little joy in me when i pass these piles.
