i love when things get really really worn. there is so much history in these brushes. they have been in circulation for over 15 years. to me, they are as beautiful as objects as they are for their important function.

these utensils were hanging in the kitchen of the late artist jean derval. he was an amazing artist and i had the chance to visit his home in france. the house was pure magic complete with an enormous wild garden in the backyard.
i have a new set of sketch salt + pepper cellars in my shop !
i call them “sketch” because i draw directly onto the piece like a pencil on paper, one of my favorite mediums !

squid. ink. pasta . . . this is one of my favorite things to eat and this version was NEVER BETTER. the ink was so black and it was SO savory. i actually painted in my sketchbook using the squid ink. i can’t wait to go back ! la barque bleue.

. . . or FIVE. one of my most favorite things to do is to stop what i’m doing for a spot of tea. it is so important for me to take a break during the day, to stop and reflect, to just be still. i equally enjoy doing it alone OR with a friend or two or FIVE. make time for TEA !
