we flew a teeny tiny 9 seater prop plane from boston to vermont and i was invited to ride shot gun in the co-pilot seat ! it was amazing, windy, bumpy, loud, hot, and scenic. poor wilma cried the entire time.
this is the memorial for the boston marathon bombings at the arlington street church.
it is so beautiful and so moving.
i couldn’t imagine a better sentiment.
today we are leaving for our annual summer in vermont ! we are all looking forward to a little down time and a LOT of frolicking in the woods for a few weeks. vermont is wilma’s favorite place on earth (yes, even over disneyland !). stay tuned for a LOT of nature . . .
i bought these wonderful fabrics at a flea market in NICE, FRANCE from a woman who’s family owned a mens tailor shop which was now defunct. she had a beautiful collection of REALLY old fabrics . . . i wish i could have bought more. i love the idea of bringing new life to these fabrics. they will soon be my “uniform dresses” and aprons.
my favorite thing about having to get clay is the TOKYO FISH MARKET next door.

i went to the RICHARD DIEBENKORN exhibit at the de young museum and was completely entranced. i love his work. if you live even remotely near the bay area, i suggest you go. it was completely enchanting.
these were scraps of clay that i wadded together and was about to recycle, but i found this lump quite beautiful. a little sculpture that i couldn’t have made better if i was trying. one man’s garbage is another girl’s sculpture and beauty is everywhere.
yesterday i had a fabulous and very inspiring breakfast meeting at my studio. it was a great way to start the day and just what the doctor ordered.
some friends of mine had their house packed up and moved across the country. they were left with MANY BOXES of this paper that was used to wrap up their kitchen wares. luckily, my friends are environmentally responsible and couldn’t bear to just throw out the paper. that’s when they thought of ME ! I. LOVE. PAPER. it’s perfect for wrapping my pottery in, sketching on, writing letters on, or just looking at it. it reminds me of wrinkled linen. so beautiful.
