when i’m not in vermont and able to dry my clothes outside on a clothesline, our staircase in california makes the perfect indoor clothesline. sometimes you just have to improvise.

several years ago, i cut into a block of clay and exposed this perfect tiny air bubble heart. naturally, i glazed it and now it sits upon my shelf. it has since become one of my most prized possessions of all time. here’s to finding love where you least expect it.
2011
berkeley, ca
this was just a quick sketch in my sketchbook of an idea for a napkin holder.
and THIS is when it came into fruition a few months later.
et voilà !
EVERY month should be all about love. that’s why i sometimes have a hard time with VALENTINE’S DAY. february 14th can feel like such a hallmarky effortful celebration. it doesn’t have to be and to me it shouldn’t be. i think every day should be all about love . . . the world might be a better place if everyone agreed on that.
to mark it in stone (or rather, clay) i’ve put a few new heartfelt reminders in my shop.
january 2014
las cumbres, panama
i was pleasantly surprised when i cut into an ORANGE lime ! it was so beautiful and bright and lemony.
this piece of watercolor paper was the scrap that i was using to blot my paintbrush and test colors. i was just about to toss it in the trash when i realized how pretty it was ! one girl’s trash is another (or the same) girl’s treasure !
my friend brought me these chunks of indigo from morocco. UNBELIEVABLY beautiful, no ? i am starting to love and appreciate more color in my life. it all started after my trip to panama. my eyes suddenly opened up and accepted bright colors. it’s never too late.
