i’ve started working in the studio, but for some reason i am off to a slow start (well, slower than last year). we went to the clay store the day we arrived. i decided to start with french porcelain and then move on to my FAVORITE spanish black clay. since my studio is small, working with white + black clay at the same time is near impossible. more studio updates soon . . .

cannes.

this is me on the RED CARPET . . . we were lucky and got tickets to the cannes film festival (vallauris is just 10 minutes outside of cannes) ! we watched a FANTASTIC film called CAMILLE REDOUBLE. then we strolled around cannes, had an incredible meal, and even crashed a party ! life on the french riviera is pretty darn sweet.

vallauris.

i finally made it down to the south of france to start my residency, and it’s as if i had never left. the weather here is just perfect. it’s like coming home again . . . i grew up in fresno, california which has mediterranean climate and so it feels subliminally familiar to me. i am ready to get my hands dirty and to see what inspires me. this is where i will be living for the next 5 weeks . . . top floor.

e n c o r e .

i spent 5 days in paris with some of my clay posse before heading to my residency in the south of france. it was amazing but, of course, WAY TOO SHORT. luckily, i did manage to check off the majority of my parisian to-do list. first off, a trip to MERCI for breakfast and shopping galore, then there was a hugely inspiring visit to the PALAIS de TOKYO museum (i highly recommend it), a delicious falafel at l’as du fallafel that was so big you had to eat it with a fork, buying parfum at l’artisan parfumeur, a wonderful lunch at chez prune, and an INCREDIBLE dinner at JaJa. i want to do it ALL over AGAIN . . . encore, s’il vous plait !

if the dress fits . . .

this was the sweetest little dress shop in paris. it was right down the street from where we were staying in the marais and i passed by it every day. as i had been eyeing up some of the pretty dresses through the window, i went in one day to fetch my prize dress . . .

but unfortunately NONE of the dresses fit me.

chasing butterflies.

in paris, we spent a lot of time at this wonderful parfumerie called L’Artisan Parfumeur. we all wanted a scent to remind us of our trip to paris. i bought 2. one of them was called “la chasse aux papillons” . . . it smells so fresh, like sweet flowers in the spring. the translation is something like “the chase of butterflies.” right after our parfum purchases, we walked to a little bar around the corner to toast to our new scents. these butterflies were on the wall there . . . i knew i had made the right choice.

i finally made it to this AMAZING store in paris that i’ve been hearing so much about.

i would love to live in this concept store/cafe. the architecture is sweet, the merchandise is fantastic, and the cafe is delicious.

i had 2 soft boiled eggs that were cooked perfectly.

shop talk.

i leave on wednesday for my residency in france . . . i’m so ready to be in my french studio on RUE REY to make some NEW WORK ! i’ve been advised by my advisors to NOT close my online shop, but rather leave it open for purchases that will be shipped in JULY. there is an announcement in the shop, but i think very few people actually read the small print, so . . .
