I just finished reading this new compelling book by Jackie Skole called DOGLAND. In the quest to find out why her beloved rescue dog, Galen, had been given up for adoption, Skole uncovers the startling truth of what really goes on behind the doors of animal shelters and about the immense overpopulation of dogs. The story is riveting and sometimes disturbing. Skole did a vast amount of research including countless interviews and visits to animal shelters. The book is highly informative and eye opening. I think it’s important that we all be aware of what is happening to the overpopulation of our dogs and what can be done about it. AND all the proceeds are going to the nonprofit programs profiled in the book . . .
