these are the doors to my studio in vallauris, france.
and this is behind closed doors. my charming studio where i have been spending at least 10 hours a day in. it’s on a very sweet neighborhood rue. we leave the doors open and people (and dogs) come by to visit all day long.
the white building is where i will be living for the month. my room is on the middle floor and overlooks a VERY cute restaurant. uh oh, this could be trouble . . .
why is it that everything looks better when it is small ? my favorite children’s clothing store is cotton sheep in hayes valley. they have the MOST beautiful children’s clothes from japan. so perfect and bite size. i always ask the owner why they can’t make them just a tad bigger to fit me, and we always laugh and agree at the answer: “because it wouldn’t be CUTE if it was any bigger !” well, the same goes for these little tea cups that i designed for jess brown. if they were any bigger, they would lose their cuteness factor for sure.
i have a new series of thin porcelain plates making their debut at MAC’s very chic + beautiful new space in THE YELLOW BUILDING.this is the grooviest new place in sf to shop, dine, drink coffee, and buy wine ! this stunning historical building is the epitome of one-stop-shopping . . . i highly recommend a visit.
please help our friend DAN DONOVAN with his fight against cancer. there is an auction going on with a LOT of cool loot. great products, restaurant meals, vacation spots, services, etc . . . and there is a good chance you could get a fine deal on this vase.
we had a very successful vase show + seconds sale this past weekend. i feel many pounds lighter after unloading a ton of work. thank you to all of you who came down and shopped, it was a fun filled weekend.
we are having a fantastic 2 in 1 event at our studio next week. an invitational vase show (including some of the bay areas finest potters) PLUS a seconds sale. AND it’s mothers day weekend, a perfect way to kill 2 birds with one stone. the opening night party is next friday night, may 6th, from 6-9 . . . come then to snag the best deals whilst sipping on some wine !
this show is also a benefit for the berkeley food & housing project. bring a NEW toiletry item and get 10% off your purchase.
the memorial quilt that i made out of my dad’s shirts is featured in the may 2011 issue of ladies’ home journal. there are actually some great articles in this issue. my original story about how this quilt came to be, and directions on how to make one yourself, is in this wonderful book creating a meaningful home. here are a few photos from that book . . .
