i finally made it to this AMAZING store in paris that i’ve been hearing so much about.

i would love to live in this concept store/cafe. the architecture is sweet, the merchandise is fantastic, and the cafe is delicious.

i had 2 soft boiled eggs that were cooked perfectly.

i recently did a series of fall fruit + vegetable drawings for a company. i’ve always loved the pomegranate. they remind me of my childhood. walking home from our piano lessons, my sisters and i would often stop and pick a pomegranate from a tree along the way, crack it open,  and eat it right there on the spot. back then, “stealing” fruit from a stranger’s tree was not considered a crime. plus, i grew up in the central valley where there was an abundance of fruit trees. there was always more than enough.

yellow power.

a stack of my plates used by the fabulous food stylist erin quon. we worked together YEARS ago at the slow club and became fast friends. the whole gang of us that worked the slow club in the mid 90’s all went on to do BIGGER and more creative things. it’s really quite amazing.

say "CHEESE" . . .

“board.” i am a lover a cheese (the stinkier, the better). my cheeseboard has been the perfect platform for these said cheeses. there are rubber bumpers on the bottom that make the board stay put and you can hang it on the wall as “art” when not in use!

a good egg.

EVERY morning, my husband leaves me the perfect cup of tea on my bedside table (this is no easy feat . . . 2 tea bags steeped for 4 minutes, a cup of non-fat powdered milk, a dash of organic grade B maple syrup all elegantly whisked and concocted in a mason jar or pint glass and served to me piping hot). and in his quest to get me to eat food before 2 pm, he will sometimes leave me a morsel of food or a smoothie. today he left these soft boiled eggs. i thought the colors and the composition were ever so photo-worthy. isn’t he a good egg ?

my cheese plate + knife sets are now available at GARNET HILL (these are from my manufactured line) and just in time for the holidays. it’s the perfect way to serve hunks of cheese. we could use about 10 of these at the studio . . . we do LOVE our cheeses there !

i love cheese. the stinkier, the stronger flavor, the better. i also love to draw cheese. i drew these standing in front of the dean & delucca cheese case in soho. they always have the most handsome selection of cheeses anywhere. i could stand there for days drawing and nibbling on cheese (i would so love to be locked in that store after hours !).

rain, eat, indulge.

today it was raining, which called for a rainy day schedule . . . 

big breakfast of scrambled eggs, asparagus, cheese + heirloom tomatoes . . .

followed by BIRTHDAY CAKE.  yesterday happened to be my birthday, and my husband  made me this sublime chocolate cake from scratch . . . mmmmmmmmm.
